Edenvale Heritage Precinct

STEP INTO LIVING HISTORY

Home to historic and culturally significant buildings, the Edenvale Heritage Precinct is remnant of a nineteenth-century rural village. This beautiful destination has retained its character of heritage architecture, homestead gardens, timber fences and barns. Located in the heart of Pinjarra's town centre and along the gentle Murray River, Edenvale is just a short walk along the main street. This award-winning cultural attraction celebrates the creativity of our region, where history comes alive!

DAYS GONE BY

The Edenvale Heritage Precinct is associated with the McLarty family, a prominent pioneering family in Western Australia.

Edward McLarty was born in Pinjarra. He was the son of pioneer farmers John and Mary McLarty, who arrived in the colony in 1839 from Campbelltown, Scotland. He established strong agricultural and political roots in the area, serving on the Murray Roads Board in 1877 and holding the position for nearly 40 years. Later, he was elected to the State Legislative Council and held a seat there from 1894 to 1916.

TEA TIME

There is nothing more delightful than visiting a heritage village and enjoying an authentic Devonshire tea! With a homestead inspired menu, the Edenvale Heritage Tea Rooms serve quality home-style and wholesome food, with an abundance of fresh, local ingredients.

Whether you are looking to sit inside or alfresco, the Tea Rooms is a great meeting place and a starting point for exploring our village at the Edenvale Heritage Precinct.

Wander The Heritage Rose Garden

This exquisite public garden within the Edenvale Heritage Precinct is solely dedicated to roses. Uniquely, it is the only garden of it's kind in Western Australia.

The heritage garden grows many different roses including ancient species (wild) roses, spring-flowering European, Chinese, 20th Century ramblers and classic hybrid teas. In fact, the Heritage Rose Garden was first started in the early 1980s by Noel Frost, with roses being donated from all over Australia to preserve different species in rose history and celebrate their genetic diversity. Though the blooming time for roses is usually October, blossoms can be seen year round within the Heritage Rose Garden.
